Virtual Lab update: Z750 added and new discussion forum open
The Virtual Lab on-line service enables registered Community members to conduct remote testing sessions on pre-commercial Sony Ericsson phones. The Sony Ericsson Z750 phone has now been added, making it two Java™ Platform 8 (JP-8) phones available in the Virtual Lab. To give members a channel to share ideas and feedback on the Virtual Lab service with the Developer World team, a new discussion forum is now open.
About Sony Ericsson Virtual Lab
The new Virtual Lab service gives registered Sony Ericsson Developer World Community Members early access to pre-commercial, Java ME based Sony Ericsson phones for real-time testing of Java ME applications and games.
This on-line service enables developers to remotely test on 2007 phones that are not yet commercially available, maximizing the valuable time window to perfect applications and have them ready for the market launch of a new phone.
Sony Ericsson Developer World's Virtual Lab service is managed by Mobile Complete using its DeviceAnywhere™ technology and hosted in a dedicated section for Sony Ericsson Developer World members on Mobile Complete's website. The service was launched with six of Sony Ericsson's most popular mass-market feature phones announced in 2007, representing Java Platforms 7 and 8, and adding the Z750 clamshell phone brings this number up to seven, two of which are JP-8.
Z750: HSDPA clamshell supporting JP-8
The Z750 is based on Sony Ericsson's Java Platform 8 (JP-8), which supports Mobile Services Architecture (MSA) JSR 248, the next-generation Java umbrella standard. MSA aims to reduce fragmentation in the industry by creating a predictable environment for developers, reducing porting issues when developing new applications and games for the new generation of phones.
