Clearspring Launches Mobile Syndication Widgets
Clearspring, the widget platform and directory, has launched its mobile syndication service today. Developers can now create mobile widgets for end users to share mobile content between web and mobile users. Widgets can also be sent for sharing purposes on mobile phones as well.
These don’t appear to be widgets for accessing content on your mobile phones, but for creating content from your hand set to be shared across web pages. This is similar to Utterz’s and Xanga’s recent mobile blogging tools. These web widgets enable mobile users to push content directly to web pages, start pages and social networking profiles right from their cell phones.
This is also being promoted as a new channel for advertising, as it’s a new way to bridge mobile and web content. Clearspring will also offer developers and marketers analytics tools for tracking mobile activity. The new mobile syndication service currently supports MySpace, Freewebs, Friendster, Google, Blogger and TypePad, and more services will be added in the future.
