Motorola Mobilizes 500+ Employees to Volunteer in Broward County on Global Day of Service
Employees in 47 countries give local communities a boost
PLANTATION, Fla., Oct. 8 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- More than 500 Motorola, Inc. (NYSE: MOT) employees will volunteer in Broward County on October 10, 2007 on the company's second annual Global Day of Service. The local work is part of a larger event mobilizing more than 11,000 Motorola employees in 47 countries to volunteer in their local communities.
The Motorola employees will take a half day off work to volunteer at more than 300 projects that address a variety of community concerns, including education, environmental sustainability and social services.
Locally, more than a dozen parks and non-profit organizations will benefit from the Motorola's work at these local projects:
-- Park clean-up and planting projects at Tree Tops Park in Davie, Fern
Forest in Coconut Creek, Quiet Waters Park in Deerfield Beach, Secret
Woods Nature Center in Dania, and Tradewinds Park in Coconut Creek.
-- Maintenance and painting at Kids in Distress in Wilton Manors.
-- Maintenance, painting and laying down mulch on the playground at
Children's Choice School in Fort Lauderdale.
-- Assembling a new exhibit at Young at Art Children's Museum in Davie.
-- Delivering donated clothing to Women in Distress in Fort Lauderdale.
-- Serving food to the homeless at Broward Partnership for the Homeless in
Lauderhill.
-- Maintenance projects at the Broward Outreach Center in Hollywood.

Each kit contains supplies and materials for a teacher and up to 80 students. This Global Day of Service campaign complements a grant of $100,000 to the U.S. Fund for UNICEF for the School-in-a-Box program by the
Motorola Foundation, which has supported education and community services worldwide since 1953.
