Trolltech and Motorola Expand Agreement on MOTOMAGX Platform
Trolltech and Motorola (News - Alert) have extended the agreement regarding the use of Qtopia Core as the native application development platform for Motorola’s MOTOMAGX Linux-based mobile phone platform. MOTOMAGX is considered to be the next step in Motorola's Mobile Linux platform and industry analysts feel that it demonstrates Motorola's commitment and leadership in Mobile Linux.
Third party application of Motorola devices can expect new levels of openness, flexibility and support with MOTOMAGX. The Motorola has built on the global success of company's earlier Linux-based platforms and gained a reputation for its devices in this field. Several application environments like Java ME with WebUI and Qtopia-based SDK for native Linux development are supported by MOTOMAGX.

According to the agreement, Motorola will now distribute and promote native Linux Software Development Kit (SDK) based on Qtopia Core to their MOTODEV development communityfree of charge. Also, native applications developed with the Qtopia-based SDK will be allowed to run on selected MOTOMAGX-based phones in the future.
