Columbus Completes First Stage in New Project with Motorola
LAS VEGAS, Nov. 6 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Columbus Geographic Systems (GIS) Ltd. ("Columbus") (symbol: CGSE.PK) announced today they have successfully completed the first stage of implementing a new project with Motorola, a global leader in providing integrated communications solutions and embedded electronic solutions. This follows the company's earlier announcement of this significant new beta project on October 24, 2007.
This pilot project was implemented in a subsidiary company of Motorola that operates a call center providing navigation and location-based information to drivers and hikers. This information is relayed to the end user in a number of ways, including voice message or SMS to his cellular phone, or directly to an in-car PC system.
The call center's agents now use Columbus' system to provide real-time navigation and location-based tourist information to the end user. This solution represents a significant break-through for Motorola, and enables them to provide their users with maps and aerial photographs for off-road navigation. In addition, the user can receive a wide range of tourist information about places of entertainment, hotels, restaurants etc from approved third-party content providers.
"One of the challenges for this project was implementing the new system without any disruption to service to Motorola's end users," said Columbus CEO Tsvika Freidman. "We are very pleased that we met this challenge and ensured a smooth transition to Columbus' new system. We view this project as a further validation of the advanced features offered by our navigation solutions and look forward to broadening our relationship with Motorola to other fields."
