LG Tough Phone Put To The Test
An LG mobile phone has miraculously survived blazing temperatures after being accidentally dropped in a sugar cane fire in Queensland, LG Electronics has reported.
The LG TU550 Telstra Next G handset was the culprit – a multimedia mobile with a broad frequency range providing reception in remote areas.
The handset has Telstra's regional blue tick of approval and is ideal for regional users.
According to LG, the handset was fully-functional when rescued, even though the exterior had been melted away by the heat.
Local Queensland farmer, Jeffrey Schmidt, was the one who lost the phone, yet when he retrieved it again he was still able to make and receive calls and take a photograph – albeit through a burnt lens.
"My son, who was travelling behind me, found the melted handset half open and to our amazement the light was still on. We were doubly shocked to find that calls could be made from the phone with perfect reception," said Schmidt.
