Samsung, LG on List of Preferred Firms of Korean Parents
The Daishin Securities Research Center announced seven companies that parents hope their children will work for at a research forum on Monday. The companies include Samsung Corp., Hyundai Steel, Doosan Infracore, Korea Air, NHN, LG.Phillips LCD and LG. All these companies boast great potential for future growth and highly satisfied workers.
"If you want to know which companies will remain competitive in the future, think about companies that you would like your children to work at," the center¡¯s director Koo Hee-jin said. "The seven companies have not only business models that will enable their sales and operating profits to grow over 15 percent annually for the next three years, but also governance structure that can ensure management transparency."
The center has analyzed the strength of each company:
¨ח Samsung Corporation: It's one of Samsung Group¡¯s core companies with a 3.48 percent stake in Samsung Electronics. It has been chosen to build the Yongsan International Business Complex in Seoul.
¨ט Hyundai Steel: It's the leader of the long steel market. With the company's advance into the steel sheet market, it's expected to see a great increase in sales.
¨י Doosan Infracore: The acquisition of U.S.-based heavy equipment manufacturer Bobcat should help it grow into a global construction machinery maker.
¨ך Korean Air: An increase in passenger numbers and improvement in profitability in its cargo business could increase Korean Air's operating profits by 40 percent per year on average.
¨כ NHN: Korea's largest Internet portal, it's expected to consolidate its dominance in the Internet search market.
¨ל LG.Phillips LCD: It leads the Chinese LCD TV market and it's expected to benefit from the growth of the Chinese market.
¨ם LG: It's expected to benefit from a growth in equity value of its major subsidiaries and see an increase in equity-method incomes resulting from expiration of amortization of goodwill.
