Win a W910 and P1: new Java ME and UIQ 3 Wiki competitions
Sony Ericsson Developer World is running two Wiki competitions simultaneously during November with the focus on both the UIQ 3 and Java™ ME platforms. The competition is open to all registered Community members, with two phones - a UIQ 3-based P1 smartphone and a Java Platform 8 (JP-8) W910 Walkman® phone - up for grabs as prizes. Any article published in the UIQ 3 or Java ME sections of the Developer World Wiki could be a potential winner and the submission deadline is December 2, 2007.
Article writing tips
To get you started, here are some tips about what each Wiki article should include:
- An introduction where the scope of subject is presented
- A description of the functionality/area to give the reader an insight about the functionality/area, including a code example with comments
- A downloadable example with full source with comments that can be compiled and run in either the Java ME 2.5.0 SDK or the UIQ 3 SDK
Please remember that the Wiki is a public space and although we want you to share example code and diagrams, so do not include any confidential information.
Competition details
Members of the Sony Ericsson Developer World team will assess the merit of the published Wiki articles and decide the two winners. Their judgment cannot be contested. This Wiki article competition is open from now until 23.59 Central European Time (CET) on December 2, 2007. The winners will be notified in due course.
The articles will be assessed using the following criteria:
- Qualities of the article, making the user understand the subject/technology
- Relevance to developers
- Existing and urgent gaps in existing documentation including Developers's Guidelines, previous articles, Tips, Tricks & Code library
- Innovative use of an API
- Quality of sample code
- The length (not too long, not too short), not more than 4 pages long, not less than half a page
- Illustrations (screenshots, diagrams)
- And last the number of submitted articles, however quality is more important than quantity
