Chinese-language services expanded: new discussion forums and web section
Sony Ericsson Developer World has extended the services offered in the Chinese language to include moderated discussion forums, more Docs & Tools for download, news articles, a RSS feed, go-to-market information and membership services. This can all be found in the expanded web section accessible by clicking on the Chinese characters in the navigation the very top of this page or by visiting www.sonyericsson.com/developer/china
New Chinese discussion forums
Community membership of Sony Ericsson Developer World is free and registration allows you to participate in the new Chinese language discussion forums. You can post questions and replies to share information and ideas with other Community members, in addition to receiving real-time Technical Support input from the Sony Ericsson Developer World team. The new forums are moderated in Chinese by a Chinese Technical Support expert from Sony Ericsson Developer World.
There are four new discussion forums to join and the categories are:
- Java™ ME
- UIQ 3
- Multimedia
- General

One of the most important features of the Sony Ericsson Developer World discussion forums is the reward system and this is a fundamental part of the new Chinese forums too. The reward system has the functionality that a thread can be marked as a question and this gives the thread originator the ability to award points to forum members who contribute helpful answers. The points awarded are then used in a level system to show the forum experience of that member. Read more about the forum reward system here>>
Registered Community members can also change their profile and forum setting information by logging in and visiting the new Chinese-language version of the members-only "MySettings" section.
The forum fellow experts are a small group of Sony Ericsson Developer World community members who have distinguished themselves in one or more of the discussion forums and work more closely with the Developer World team to improve the support for the Sony Ericsson Developer World community. Membership of this forum experts group is by invitation only and we would like to expand this team to include Chinese-speaking members.

The newlook Chinese homepage includes real-time postings from the new Chinese forums and a listing of the latest Chinese-language Docs & Tools available for download. You'll also find news articles and a new RSS feed, featuring news articles and Docs & Tools, available for use with a RSS reader or adding to NewsGator™ and your personalized Google® or Yahoo!® homepages.
Beyond the homepage, there are the following sections:
- Docs & Tools: all available Chinese-language developer documentation and development tools for download from one, convenient location.
- Forums: four different discussion forums, as described above.
- News: Chinese news articles, including an archive, and a link to subscribe to the monthly newsletter.
