Etisalat and Nokia in alliance to enhance Mobile Internet services offering
Etisalat customers first in UAE to enjoy benefits of partnership
Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates - Etisalat and Nokia today announced a working partnership to accelerate the adoption of new mobile Internet services on Nokia mobile devices in the UAE. Currently available exclusively to Etisalat mobile customers, the partnership will bring Etisalat customers in the UAE easy access to both Etisalat and Nokia Mobile Internet and content services. The collaboration will focus on areas such as mobile downloads, mobile games, online image sharing, Instant Messaging and mobile media. The two companies are also working together to simplify the purchase of digital content with Nokia devices. The enhanced services are scheduled to be available for use by the end of 2007.
As part of the collaboration, Nokia will exclusively integrate Etisalat's Weyak content under the 'Nokia Download!' application providing another easy access channel to the content. Similarly, Etisalat customers will be able to access all the new Nokia Mobile Internet services on specific Nokia devices in the UAE.
"We are delighted to have the opportunity to work with Etisalat and not only enhance access to Mobile Internet and Etisalat content services but also bring new Mobile Internet Services to consumers, demonstrating that the Mobile device is becoming people's primary interface to Internet, content and social networks" said Kuba Pancewicz, Director Area Accounts, Nokia Middle East and Africa.
Khalifa Al Shamsi, Vice President Marketing - Consumer & SMB, Etisalat said: "With a market penetration of 150% of the population, Etisalat reaches out to every single person in the country. Our investment in excellent broadband mobile networks and focus on Mobile Internet is a clear commitment to ensuring a friendly and easy-to-use service offering that has cemented our leadership position in the market, and established us as a benchmark in the wider region. Through this partnership with Nokia, we are excited about creating new ways of accessing the excellent Mobile Internet services and content from both our own Weyak as well as from Nokia. This will enable even more people to go online from their mobile devices, and experience more advanced mobility."
"Following a successful launch in the UAE, we look forward to expanding our cooperation with Nokia on mobile Internet services to other Etisalat operations in the region", he added.
