Nokia staff walk out over Korea production shift
HELSINKI, (Reuters) - Around 200 workers at a Finnish plant of Nokia Oyj (NOK1V.HE: Quote, Profile, Research) walked out on Tuesday to protest against the company's plan to shift some production to Korea, a union official and the company said. "A couple of hundred workers have walked out. They left a few hours before the end of their shift," said Nokia spokeswoman Arja Suominen. "Most the production at the plant continues as usual."
More than 2,000 people work in the plant at Salo in southwest Finland.
Nokia said earlier it has been challenging to hire workers at the Salo plant and has started talks with staff at the plant over the production changes, but these do not include any layoffs.
