Samsung appoints new country head for mobile division

New Delhi: Consumer electronic firm Samsung Electronics Friday announced the appointment of Sunil Dutt as its new country head for the company's mobile business unit.

In his last capacity, Dutt was Nokia India's sales and marketing director.

The South Korean electronics major, which recently launched a premium handset in India, is planning to double its market share in mobile handsets in the country by 2008.

The company also plans to launch eight new handsets by end 2008.

Last month, it opened its second manufacturing unit in Sriperumbudur near Chennai at an investment of $30 million.
