HTC to continue expanding in Japan with new shipments
High Tech Computer (HTC) will continue to expand its market share in Japan, beginning to ship its 3.5G S730 to Softbank Mobile in April and the HT1100 (HTC Touch Dual) to NTT DoCoMo in April-May, according to sources close to HTC.
Softbank will market the Windows Mobile-based S730 under the X03HT trade name. The X03HT, one of the 13 new handsets to be launched by Softbank this spring, supports GSM/GPRS/EDGE as well as UMTS/HSDPA. The X03HT also features a 2-megapixel camera, a QWERTY keyboard, and Wi-FI and Bluetooth connectivity, according to HTC data.
HTC is now exerting efforts trying to build up business relations with KDDI in Japan and telecom carriers in South Korea, the sources indicated.
