HTC to expand investment in Shanghai plant
High Tech Computer (HTC) has decided to increase investment in its plant in Shanghai, China to US$42.96 million from the original budget of US$15.5 million, the company announced after a recent board meeting.
Company chairman Cher Wang will be authorized by the board of directors to carry out the investment project in accordance with actual market conditions, the company said.
HTC also decided to spend NT$3.34 billion (US$108 million) to acquire a plot of land in Hsintien, Taipei to build an R&D headquarters in the near future.
In other news, the board of directors also agreed to appropriate a total of 18% of its after-tax profits recorded in 2007 for annual employee bonuses. This is compared to a ratio of about 30% appropriated from 2006's net earnings, the company said. The company posted after-tax profits of NT$28.94 billion in 2007.
