XPERIA X1 in more detail
The XPERIA X1 mobile phone is positioned towards the advanced user market segment and is a premium, high-end product integrating entertainment, web and mobile communication in one user experience.

The XPERIA X1 is a feature-rich phone with a distinctive design. The arc form-factor allows the touchscreen to be moved upwards to reveal a wide-pitch, full QWERTY keyboard. The 800x480 pixel, 3 inch, WGVA screen supports finger-touch and stylus input, and the 4-way key and optical joystick offer other input methods.

Unique to Sony Ericsson is the XPERIA panel user experience. This UI gives configurable, finger-tip navigation to access different options through panels displayed on the desktop. The phone comes preloaded with panels allowing the end-user to switch between various experiences and configure panel behavior/settings.

Web communication benefits from 3G, HSDPA (High-speed Downlink Packet Access) and HSUPA (High-speed Uplink Packet Access) network support, delivering data at speeds comparable to or better than fixed-line broadband access systems. The XPERIA X1 has 400MB user free memory for storage, 512MB Flash memory, uses microSD™ memory card for extendable, removable storage and has 128MB RAM memory.

In addition to the features already mentioned, the feature list is extensive and includes 3.2 megapixel camera, WiFi, A-GPS, full HTML browser and FM radio.

Microsoft Windows Mobile 6
Sony Ericsson has a multi-platform strategy to be able to bring a wide range of user propositions to the global market, and products are positioned by end-user benefits rather than by operating systems.

The XPERIA X1 runs Microsoft Windows Mobile 6, an open platform and applications designed for X1 will run on other Windows Mobile 6 devices with the same screen resolution and hardware features. The .NET Compact Framework in Windows Mobile 6 helps developers manage screen resolution differences and automatically scales all controls to account for design-time resolution and runtime resolution differences. The XPERIA X1 has a WVGA, 800x480 pixel screen which is a standard screen resolution in Windows Mobile 6.

Sony Ericsson Developer World now has a new Docs & Tools section for Windows Mobile providing links to Microsoft's developer community, Visual Studio 2005, Windows Mobile developer resource kit and the Windows Mobile SDK. - PDA Optional Packages (JSR 75)
- Wireless Messaging API (JSR 120)
