Irdeto Showcases OMA BCAST Integration with LG Electronics
Leading, end-to-end OMA BCAST solution demonstrated at Mobile World Congress 2008
Barcelona, Spain – Mobile World Congress 2008 - Irdeto, the proven expert in content security for digital TV, IPTV and mobile, will demonstrate the integration of its mobile TV conditional access (CA) solution based on the OMA BCAST standard with the latest mobile handsets from LG Electronics at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2008.
The OMA BCAST standard is gaining momentum as a platform for mobile TV delivery as mobile and telecom operators push. It creates a unified foundation that promotes technology interoperability for best-of-breed solutions and seamless infrastructure growth.
“Irdeto fully embraces the OMA BCAST standard and has worked tirelessly to integrate its CA technologies based on the standard with top partners like LG Electronics,”said Doug Lowther, senior vice president of sales and marketing for Irdeto. “This demonstration clearly illustrates Irdeto’s leading position in developing and deploying the OMA BCAST standard for mobile TV.”
Irdeto’s OMA BCAST CA solution has been optimized to support DVB-H network requirements, as well as various subscription models like pay-per-view (PPV), pay-per-time (PPT) and recorded content. The end-result enhances operator service levels without compromising the horizontal device market.
Irdeto’s mobile TV security solution was the first content security system deployed for mobile broadcast services. The company has unmatched experience with live customers in Satellite Digital Multimedia Broadcast (S-DMB), Terrestrial Digital Media Broadcasting (T-DMB) and Digital Video Broadcasting Handset (DVB-H) technologies. With DVB-H, Irdeto solutions cover both the Open Security Framework (OSF) specification and the Open Mobile Alliance’s (OMA) BCAST smartcard profile.
