China Netcom strengthens network security with Nokia Siemens Networks
China Netcom, the leading fixed-line telecommunications service provider in China, has contracted Nokia Siemens Networks to guarantee information security for its data communication network (DCN) covering 31 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions of China.
Nokia Siemens Networks has built a complete information security management system for China Netcom covering assessment, consulting, design, systems integration and project management. The comprehensive portfolio of solutions will reduce potential losses caused by information security risks, support the stable development of China Netcom’s services and will thus reduce operational expenditures (OPEX).
With the long term goal of creating a world class information security practice, the security value assessment system will enable China Netcom to monitor and improve all aspects of information security continually. Nokia Siemens Networks has extensive experience in addressing network security issues, does strong security research and participates in security standardization boards. The company has worked closely with China Netcom to understand their network, analyze the risks and enable stable and secure services.
According to Liu Boliang, General Manager of Enterprise Information Department of China Netcom, “Nokia Siemens Networks’ knowledge in both telecom and IT and their extensive experience in addressing network security issues can provide valuable reference for us.
Their end-to-end approach and strong portfolio of security services and solutions ensure comprehensive protection. That’s why we want to have long term cooperation with Nokia Siemens Networks for our information security solution.”
“Nokia Siemens Networks helps operators define and implement the security solution that perfectly matches their unique situation and strikes the best balance between diminished risk and cost-effective investment. The successful collaboration with China Netcom further confirms the advantages of our carrier-class information security solutions,” said Craig Cai, Head of China Netcom Customer Business Team at Nokia Siemens Networks, Greater China Region.
