iPhone price cut by £100

The iPhone is being cut in price right here in the UK. O2 and Carphone Warehouse are shaving off a massive £100 from the current £269 deal for the 8GB version.

The move comes just weeks after T Mobile cut the price of the Jesus phone to €99 in Germany. However, in the UK, we’re getting something far more substantial, with the phone being cut down to size in every tariff. Our German buddies can only get the cheaper phone if they opt for the top-notch deal.

The cut is, however, limited to the 8GB, with the newly minted 16GB version remaining at a wallet–melting £329. Anyone who bought an 8GB in the last month will get an 'Ultimate Price Promise" £100 refund voucher.

The deal is set to run until June, suggesting we’ll be getting our hands on a 3G-filled iPhone in a matter of weeks. The question is, is it worth shelling out for the EDGE–packing version now, or holding onto your pennies and paying top dollar for the beefed up cell?

Andrew Harrison from Carphone Warehouse said, "Of course, significant price reductions can make people who have recently purchased feel like they missed out, so with our Ultimate Price Promise customers will get an unexpected bonus." No 3G mentioned there though.

Stock of the iPhone remains low, and there’s no doubt that this deal will empty out the reserves and bulk–up the already substantial iPhone cult in the UK.
