Nokia Siemens Networks at the Management World 2008 - creating capabilities for efficient business transformation

At Management World 2008 in Nice, France, Nokia Siemens Networks is engaging in discussions about the drivers of business transformation and how Operations and Business Support Systems (OSS/BSS) play a key role in managing transformation and customer experience successfully.

In Nice, Nokia Siemens Networks will detail how it is playing an increasingly key role in OSS/BSS transformation projects to help communications service providers (CSP) manage business convergence. The company presents its vision on the technology foundation and design principles for building its next-generation OSS architecture and portfolio. Well-orchestrated OSS/BSS solutions will allow CSPs to capitalize new business opportunities while reducing operational costs and optimizing the use of their assets.

As the first proof point for the next generation OSS architecture, Nokia Siemens Networks with other leading software companies; Sun Microsystems, Tail-f Systems and Xelas Software, will be demonstrating how re-usable mediation software can bring efficiency by increasing productized, standard integrations, and reducing the systems integration tax for the CSP.

Nokia Siemens Networks believes open and collaborative approach is the way forward in the software business, and wants to work together with skilled industry thought leaders where joint business opportunities can be identified.


The company has been actively driving the industry dialog and development activities with other OSS/BSS industry players for example by participating in the TM Forum Interface Program, which includes for instance Co-operative OSS Project (CO~OP) and OSS/J program.

It is also building a strong developer community on its Open EMS Suite software platform thereby reducing unnecessary development costs for the whole industry and delivering cost-effective, differentiating solutions for operators.

In addition to the business, architecture, and OSS mediation framework demonstrations, Nokia Siemens Networks will be showing how by managing the customer experience with a focus on profitability, CSP’s around the world can improve their customers’ life-time value and achieve real gains in revenue and substantial reductions in operational costs. The demonstration shows examples of use cases for 4 of the 5 drivers: cost and billing, service quality, customer service and service portfolio.

Mika Vehviläinen, COO of Nokia Siemens Networks, will also be participating in a keynote panel on how to excel at creating and delivering content-based services.
