SingTel launches mio TV on Mobile service with Nokia Siemens Networks solution
Singapore Telecommunications Limited (SingTel) launches its Mobile TV service using Nokia Siemens Networks’ Mobile TV streaming solution. This complements its mio TV service and adds another dimension to accessing quality pay TV content anytime, anywhere.
Nokia Siemens Networks’ Mobile TV streaming deployment, including a mobile client application, is one of its first in Asia Pacific. SingTel will be the first mobile operator to launch this service in Singapore. A particular highlight of the new service is the excellent user experience it offers by providing live TV channels with electronic program guide (EPG) information and video-on-demand (VoD)
SingTel has chosen Nokia Siemens Networks’ Media Delivery Solution (MDS) 3.5 as its Mobile TV platform. The phone application is based on Adobe’s Flash Lite technology.
Nokia Siemens Networks’ Mobile TV solution can be extended to support various standards including video streaming (unicast), and future technologies.
The contract also includes a range of services which has allowed SingTel to rapidly start its new Mobile TV offering and guarantee ongoing platform stability and quality.
Said Wong Soon Nam, Vice President, Consumer Marketing, SingTel, "With SingTel’s mio TV on Mobile service, users now have the option to extend their viewing pleasure anytime, anywhere. With Nokia Siemens Networks’ Mobile TV solution, users will enjoy the same familiarity they are used to at home and not miss their favourite shows when they are on the move.”
"We’re honoured to play a major role in SingTel’s Mobile TV plans in Singapore,” added Thomas Yeo, Head of SingTel Singapore Customer Team, Nokia Siemens Networks. “This deal demonstrates our ability to partner with forward thinking operators like SingTel to make the most of industry-leading solutions such as Nokia Siemens Networks’ MDS.”
This is Nokia Siemens Networks’ first Singapore deal with SingTel and marks a milestone for both companies in pushing the Mobile TV envelope in the country.
