HTC launches Pl@net mobile service portal in Taiwan
Taiwan-based smartphone maker High Tech Computer (HTC) will join a number of companies to launch a mobile service portal in Taiwan called Pl@net, which will go live on July 1, according to HTC.
The service aims to bring a host of shopping, travel and entertainment services to mobile phones, the company said.
The platform will give handset users access to several Internet retailers, including travel planning from ezTravel, music from Warner Music, books from Eslite, online magazines from Touch Book, news from UDN, scenic-spot information sharing from NaviGuide, concert tickets from Era Ticket and Arts Ticket, and shopping via HappyGoCard.
The service will be paired with HTC's new My Connect 2.0 software, which runs on the company's handsets and allows for quick software downloads as well as managing customers' information as they access the services offered on Pl@net.
HTC also plans to push the services to other markets in Hong Kong and Singapore initially, according to company sources.
