Huawei and EMOBILE Provide Journalists Attending G8 Summit with Mobile Broadband Access

Tokyo, Japan, 18 June 2008] EMOBILE Ltd.(EMOBILE) and Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. (Huawei), have announced that they will provide journalists covering Hokkaido Toyako Summit with high-speed HSDPA mobile connectivity service and equipment or what is commonly called ' Mobile Broadband ' .

Huawei will distribute more than 1,000 high-speed wireless modems to facilitate journalists at the International Media Centre, located at Rusutsu Resort, which will link with EMOBILE' s HSDPA (high speed downlink packet access) network and allow them to receive data transmitted at rates up to 7.2Mbps – twice as fast as the existing products. Huawei will also supply a multilingual team of IT experts at their booth in the lobby of the Rusutsu Resort from July 5 to 10 to assist with any technical enquiries.

EMOBILE has invested in base station infrastructure around Lake Toya, Rusutsu Village, and the Niseko area, and has strengthened its existing network in both Chitose and Sapporo to ensure wireless connectivity for the journalists. This will remain in place after the Summit to maintain the high-speed mobile broadband network coverage in the entire region.

"We are delighted to partner with EMOBILE to offer wireless communications solution to journalists reporting from Hokkaido," said Mr. Yan Lida, President of Huawei East Asia Region, Representative and Managing Director of Huawei Technologies Japan KK. "This is how we help to spread the news from the G8 Summit. With convenient access and high speed experience, the journalists will benefit a lot by using our mobile broadband service and device for free.

"EMOBILE' s mission is to offer new and exciting services in the field of ' Mobile Broadband' ," said Eric Gan, President & COO of EMOBILE Ltd. "The future of ' Mobile Broadband' is seamless Internet access that offers similar speed while using both fixed and mobile environments. EMOBILE is pleased to be able to make this communication platform of the future available to journalists at the Hokkaido Toyako Summit."

Huawei and EMOBILE have been working together since 2006, when EMOBILE chose Huawei as its strategic partner to carry out its mobile broadband services in Spring 2007. At the end of 2007, Huawei partnered with EMOBILE to launch the first 7.2Mbps HDSPA USB modem (D02HW) in Japan, which has gone on to become No. 1 in Japan' s mobile broadband market according to GFK. Up to date, the modems made by Huawei have achieved an accumulative shipment to Japan of more than 250,000 units, accounting for over 50% in this market.

Adopted by 235 operators, Huawei' s mobile broadband products have been sold in 115 countries and regions (as of May, 2008). More than 10,000,000 mobile broadband modems, sticks and cards have been shipped, as a world record.
