Huawei' s Asia Pacific Contract Sales Reach USD2.5 billion in 2007
More Asia Pacific operators accept Huawei as leading end-to-end next generation telecom network solutions provider
[COMMUNICASIA 2008, SINGAPORE – 17 June 2008] Huawei Technologies Co Ltd. ("Huawei"), a leader in providing next generation telecommunications network solutions for operators around the world, today announced that its contract sales for Asia Pacific (excluding China) rose to USD2.5 billion in 2007, up from USD2 billion from the previous year. The company expects Asia Pacific contract sales (excluding China) to reach USD3.9 billion in 2008 as more telecom operators across Asia Pacific step up network transformation and mobile network expansion from 2G to 3G and 3.5G.
Growing acceptance from Asia Pacific established telecom operators towards Huawei as a reliable and reputable telecom solution provider has played a key role in boosting contract sales. This is proven by the growing number of key contract wins in key countries such as India, Singapore and Australia that have been previously dominated by western vendors.
"Despite fierce competition in the telecom equipment market, Huawei is expected to make greater inroads into the Asia Pacific telecom markets this year, especially among the more established and leading telecom operators in the region," said Mr Victor Wang, Huawei Asia Pacific President. "Our product solutions, customer service and delivery capabilities are continuing to gain recognition and praise throughout the region."
Duncan Clark, chairman of BDA, a leading technology consulting firm in Asia commented that; "With its emphasis on customized solutions and highly-responsive customer support, Huawei has been winning converts from carriers across the Asia-Pacific region, in developed and fast-growing markets alike. Combined with the company's sustained high-levels of investment in R&D, this strategy appears to be a winning formula which should serve the company well as carriers upgrade their fixed and mobile networks to keep up with the explosion of traffic volumes driven by video sharing, mobile Internet access and other emerging consumer applications."
