Qisda is expected to join hands with MediaTek for the future production of EDGE/WiMAX dual-mode handsets, according to market sources.
Qisda is currently showcasing its first Windows Mobile 6.1-based EDGE/WiMAX handset at the ongoing 2008 Computex Taipei trade fair, with WiMAX chips from Runcom, the sources noted.
MediaTek is expected to roll out its WiMAX solutions in about six months, and Qisda is likely to switch to MediaTek's products once the company's solutions are available, the sources observed.
