Ericsson wins VDSL2 contract to upgrade Telecom Liechtenstein's ADSL network

Ericsson (NASDAQ:ERIC) has signed an agreement with Telecom Liechtenstein to upgrade and expand their ADSL network with the new VDSL2 technology. Ericsson will also provide support over the next three years. The deal will bring high-speed broadband to Telecom Liechtenstein subscribers across the country.

VDSL2, based on Ericsson's advanced EDA1200 product, enables Telecom Liechtenstein wide deployment of multiplay services e.g. voice, video and data as well as HDTV, IPTV, Video on Demand, high speed Internet access and interactive gaming.

Network deployment and integration has already started. The contract builds on earlier Ericsson deals that saw the introduction of ADSL across Liechtenstein.

Aldo Frick, Head of Telecom Systems at Telecom Liechtenstein, says: "In Liechtenstein there is a huge opportunity to offer enhanced multiplay services to both business and residential users. Ericsson's solution meets our demand because it is simple, has modular architecture that helps grade our services during deployment and represents state-of-the-art technologies."

Stefan Koetz, President of Ericsson Switzerland, says: "Ericsson is proud to have been selected for this landmark project. This contract is a significant milestone in our relationship with Telecom Liechtenstein and will provide cutting-edge broadband access technology and exceptional end-user services to Telecom Liechtenstein's customers."
