Japan-based UQ Communications to buy WiMAX CPE products from Taiwan makers, says paper
Japan-based mobile WiMAX service provider UQ Communications (formerly Wireless Broadband Planning KK or WBPK) reportedly is seeking suppliers of WiMAX CPE (consumer premise equipment) products in Taiwan, according to a Chinese-language Economic Daily News (EDN) report.
UQ, which projects to kick off its WiMAX services in the second quarter of 2009, plans to purchase Express cards, USB network cards, WiMAX gateways, among other items, from Taiwan network-equipment makers, said the paper, indicating that Taiwan makers, including Gemtek Technology, Zyxel Communications, Accton Wireless Broadband (AWB), Universal Scientific Industrial (USI) and Quanta Microsystems are likely to be the potential suppliers for the Japan-based WiMAX service provider.
