Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 from 3 in November this year
3 is launching a few new treats under their banner this winter, not least of all the hotly anticipated Sony Ericsson Xperia X1.
The Xperia family represents a new step for Sony Ericsson away from the S60 platform and into the world of more advanced browsing via Windows Mobile. The X1 is the first of the line and comes with a 3" WVGA touchscreen, stylus and slide-out QWERTY keyboard as well as Wi-Fi and USB connectivity.
Rather than a fully-fledged PDA, the X1 comes with a decent 3.2-megapixel camera and operates with easily selectable widgets, or "panels" as they call them, to navigate between your nine favourite functions without too much fuss. It's also very good for looking at pictures of penguins.
It's 3G with HSDPA - as all good handsets seem to be these days - and it'll be hitting the shelves in November along with a £30/month contract of thereabouts. If you like the idea of a smarter phone without too much of the added bewilderment, then the X1 could be the model for you.
