Taiwan market: FET aim to increase 3.5G data card sales
Far EasTone Telecommunication (FET) aims to boost the number of subscribers of its 3.5G data cards to 130,000-140,000 by the end of this year compared to the current 80,000, according to the company.
The 3.5G network card market in Taiwan is expected to grow from 200,000 units currently to 400,000 units by year-end 2008, FET estimated.
Over 90% of FET's 3.5G data cards are supplied by China-based Hwawei Technologies, with the remaining from Taiwan-based BandRich and China-based Amoi Electronics, the company said.
In other news, FET also noted that the number of its 3G subscribers is expected to reach 2.7-2.8 million by the end of the year, up from 2.2 million currently.
