Taiwan market: HTC rolls out customized Touch Diamond handsets for CHT and TWM
High Tech Computer (HTC) will roll out customized Touch Diamond handsets for both Chunghwa Telecom (CHT) and Taiwan Mobile (TWM), with deliveries to take place in July and August, respectively, according to Jack Tong, vice president of HTC Asia.
The price and major specifications of the two customized Touch Diamond handsets will be exactly the same, whereas the model for TWM (P3702 codenamed Victor) has a more rounded outer appearance than the original Touch Diamond, Tong noted.
In Europe, T-Mobile will also purchase Victor so as to create differentiation from the model offered by Orange, O2 and Vodafone, Tong added.
Although the Touch Diamond is available for NT$23,000 (US$757) in retail channels in Taiwan, CHT will offer a subsidiary of up to NT$21,000 with some contracts, according to information provided by CHT.
CHT, which started selling the Touch Diamond on July 10 and expects its sales to top 40,000 units by the end of the year, said sources at CHT.
