HTC aims to rank as one of top 3-5 handset vendors, says paper
High Tech Computer (HTC) aims to rank as of one of the top 3-5 branded handset vendors in the global market, HTC CEO Peter Chou told reporters in China last week, according to a Chinese-language Commercial Times report.
While Chou did not provide a timetable as to when HTC is expected to reach its goal, HTC still has a long way to go before reaching its target, given that HTC is expected to ship only 15 million handsets in 2008 compared to shipments of 100 million units projected for the current third ranked vendor Motorola and 90-100 million units for the fifth ranked vendor Sony Ericsson, the paper said.
