VIA Telecom lands CDMA chip orders from China-based Qiao Xing
VIA Telecom, a CDMA chipset provider, has received orders for CDMA chips from China-based Qiao Xing Mobile Communication, a handset unit of China Electric Communication Telecom (CECT), according to sources in the Taiwan handset industry.
Qiao Xing plans to roll out two CDMA-enabled handsets by the end of this year for China Telecom, which has been assigned to operate the CDMA communication networks in China, the sources noted.
VIA Telecom's clients for CDMA chips currently include Dopod International, Inventec Appliances, Cal-Comp Electronics, Wistron Networks, Foxlink, BYD and Haier, the sources indicated.
