Comstar-UTS test zone demonstrates mobile WiMAX
The operator of integrated telecommunication services Comstar-UTS held a demonstration in Moscow on its test area wireless broadband Internet access technology for mobile WiMAX. Journalists were shown leading media capabilities of mobile WiMAX in the wild movement in the city.
In September 2008, Comstar-UTS in the center of Moscow has set up a test area wireless broadband access services WiMAX standard IEEE 802.16e (radio frequency range 2,5-2,7 GHz). In the zone employs three base stations installed in the area Petrovsky Boulevard, Daeva lanes and streets Schepkina, between stations provided "seamless" transition. WiMAX-network Comstar-UTS will be put into operation in late 2008. Until the end of 2008 the company will install 160 base stations.
The investment in Comstar-UTS network construction in 2008 will be about 20 million dollars. Comstar-UTS is developing a project in partnership with Intel, which will increase the supply of client devices with integrated support for WiMAX.
