Huawei Deploys World' s Largest Next Generation Home Location Register Project for Telenor Pakistan
[Shenzhen, China, 1 Sept. 2008] Huawei Technologies Co Ltd. ("Huawei"), a leader in providing next generation telecommunications network solutions for operators around the world, has announced that it has deployed the world' s largest next generation Home Location Register (HLR) solution for Telenor Pakistan. The next generation HLR which will serve 40 million subscribers enables Telenor Pakistan to improve its network efficiency, simplify its operations, and enhance its customer' s service experience, in turn reducing operating and transmission costs by 60% and 70% respectively.
Huawei' s HLR solution is fully-distributed and has been deployed in the country' s three major cities of Islamabad, Karachi and Lahore. As a result, Telenor Pakistan is able to unify the management of subscriber information such as number resources and simplify the maintenance of its network.
"We are very satisfied with Huawei' s performance in this project. Huawei has a very customer focused attitude. This, together with constant R&D support and involvement, enabled us to achieve timely and smooth deployment of the next generation HLR in our network." Mr. Peter Dindial, Telenor Pakistan CTO, stated. "We also hope to continue this mutually beneficial relationship in the future."
Huawei next generation HLR adopts carrier-grade Advanced Telecommunications Computing Architecture (ATCA) platform and a distributed architecture design, which can provide large-capacity processing capability and expand smoothly and unlimitedly. Due to its advanced technologies, the system reliability reaches as high as 99.9999%, making it an ideal choice for this expanding network.
The solution also offers data-sharing and inter-working platforms for service convergence, which helps Telenor Pakistan better understand its customers and allows the operator to quickly provide new services to its customers in the most appropriate manner. Huawei' s next generation HLR also allows the evolution to Home Subscriber Server (HSS) and Authorization, Authentication and Accounting (AAA) capabilities, thus securing Telenor Pakistan' s current investment.
"Huawei' s next generation HLR solution uses revolutionary innovative technology which is the result of our extensive investment in R&D," said Mr. Yi Xiang, CEO of Huawei Pakistan. "Huawei always focuses on addressing the challenges of its customers, in order to provide them with winning solutions for their businesses, and creating long-term relationships in the process."
