Inventec Appliances interested in developing Android-based handsets, says paper

Inventec Appliances is interested in venturing into the development of Android-based Linux handsets, and the company has assigned a research team with a double-digit R&D staff, to engage in initial studies, the Chinese-language Economic Daily News (EDN) quoted company chairman Jackson Chang as saying.

However, the company will not commit a large portion of its resources to develop Android handsets initially as Google is expected to adjust its business policy pertaining to Android following the official launch of the first handsets, Chang was quoted as saying. The number of R&D staff assigned to study the Android platform will be increased to over 100 should Inventec decide to develop a Android-based device, Chang added.
