Nokia makes EUR 10 million investment in Manaus plant in 2008

Nokia has this year been investing to expand the production capacity and improve the efficiency of its plant in Manaus, Brazil. The company expects investments during 2008 to reach around EUR 10 million. “With the Brazilian mobile phone market having shown annual growth of around 20% for two years running and with our exports to Latin America having grown strongly too, we are making available the resources to increase our manufacturing capacity,” says Almir Narcizo, Vice President, Sales, Nokia, Brazil.

Some of the investment is being used to adjust Nokia’s manufacturing processes to the technologies required to produce new, technologically more advanced products. Last May, the Manaus plant started production of its first 3G device produced in the country, the Nokia 5610 XpressMusic.

Nokia opened its plant in Brazil in 1998.
