m:tel meets subscriber challenge with network expansion in Bosnia and Herzegovina

Telekom Srpske’s mobile arm chooses Nokia Siemens Networks to extend its GSM network bringing more speed, services, coverage and capacity across the nation
The leading mobile operator in Bosnia and Herzegovina is to expand network coverage to 99 per cent of the population with upgrade to radio and core equipment that will enhance user experience for all subscribers.

The GSM expansion will allow m:tel to accommodate the demand from new subscribers across the country as well as offering exciting, advanced mobile data services at higher speeds to its 1.1 million subscribers, strengthening its competitive position.

Commenting on the upgrade decision, Predrag Culibrk, CEO of Telekom Srpske said, “This investment is the foundation for our future expansion in Bosnia and Herzegovina and enables m:tel to provide better network coverage and quality of services as well as increasing network capacity to accommodate the influx of new subscribers. We will also be able to leverage innovative technologies to improve our existing services and to offer new ones to our more than one million existing subscribers,” he added.

The network extension will increase m:tel´s availability of GSM services throughout the whole country so customers in smaller villages and rural areas of Bosnia Herzegovina can enjoy the whole range of m:tel offerings. An enriched quality of services at a significantly higher speed, which is essential for mobile data services, goes hand in hand with this network extension. m:tel will now cover 99 per cent of the nation laying the technology foundation for the operator’s future subscriber growth.

With the award of this project, Nokia Siemens Networks maintains its sole supplier status in 2G radio and core, as well as for IN (Intelligent Network) prepaid solution for Telekom Srpske. "Telekom Srpske has exciting and important development plans for mobile in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Nokia Siemens Networks will facilitate them with a fast, effective roll-out and first class support,” said Goran Ninkovic, Account Manager for Telekom Srpske in Bosnia Herzegovina at Nokia Siemens Networks.

In order to achieve the best possible quality and performance of the network, software maintenance and hardware spare part supply ensure a cost-effective and professional back-up support for problem and incident management in m:tel’s network operations. In addition competence development services will ensure m:tel’s staff reach their full potential as technologies and markets change and they need to offer up-to-date services to their customers.
