Nokia Siemens Networks Defines Broadband with No Boundaries at WiMAX World

Worldwide broadband traffic is growing at a rate faster than anticipated, fueled by the expectation that anyone can connect to or communicate with anything wherever they are, without boundaries. To deliver this ability and be profitable, communications service providers need to quickly transform their networks to an all IP infrastructure. At WiMAX World 2008 in Chicago, Nokia Siemens Networks will share its vision of the future connected world and WiMAX’s role as a driver of change.

Traditional mobile operators, cable companies, and new market entrants each have their own unique network assets and challenges, and recognize many opportunities in monetizing the Internet. WiMAX is a first-to-market technology that can enable new revenue opportunities through Internet services. Using WiMAX, mobile operators can further leverage unpaired spectrum, cable companies can extend their offering beyond their geographic footprint, and new market entrants can offer complementary wireless services.

On the expo floor at McCormick Place, Booth #401, Nokia Siemens Networks will demonstrate a commercially deployable WiMAX solution. Additionally, Nokia Siemens Networks will provide expertise on end-to-end solution components, including radio access, the access service network (ASN) gateway, subscriber data management, a Carrier Ethernet-based mobile backhaul solution, and converged core network elements that deliver intelligence to the network, like IMS and service delivery platforms.

Live Flexi WiMAX Base Stations will power hands-on demonstrations. WiMAX to the home will feature IP voice communications, high-speed Internet and digital television with the capability of WiMAX Customer Premise Equipment (CPE) products from Siemens Home and Office Communications. WiMAX on the go will feature live voice, broadband Internet and streaming television and video on a Nokia N810 WiMAX edition Internet tablet.
