Sprint Nextel Names Charles Wunsch as General Counsel and Corporate Secretary

OVERLAND PARK, Kan., (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Sprint Nextel (NYSE:S) has named Charles Wunsch as General Counsel and Corporate Secretary, effective immediately, succeeding Leonard J. Kennedy. Wunsch, 52, most recently had served as vice president for corporate transactions and business law at Sprint, and has served in various legal positions at the company since 1990.

Wunsch began his Sprint career in the Corporate Secretary group, and later served as associate general counsel for Sprint PCS before supporting corporate transactions since 2002. Wunsch previously was an associate and partner at the law firm Watson, Ess, Marshall and Enggas.

"Charlie has an excellent reputation in the industry as a senior attorney in corporate transactions and for his long record of high performance at Sprint," said Sprint CEO Dan Hesse. "He has a keen understanding of the communications industry and the details of our company's business. He is well prepared to lead our legal and regulatory team."

Wunsch graduated cum laude with a J.D. degree from Cornell Law School, and earned a B.A. degree in history from Stanford University.
