Driver IC supplier Orise secures 2009 orders from handset vendors
Taiwan-based LCD driver IC design house Orise Technology has reportedly landed new orders from US- and Japan-based handset vendors for 2009. As reported previously, the company has also secured orders from Nokia.
Orise declined to comment on the report, citing customer confidentiality.
Market watchers pointed out that Orise's timing-controller (Tcon) product line will drive the company's sales growth in 2009, in addition to handset-use driver ICs. Thanks to new orders, Orise is expected to enjoy 10% sales growth next year.
Orise stated that weaker-than-expected order visibility for the fourth quarter may lead to a sequential sales decline. The company holds a cautious outlook toward the coming year.
In related news, Orise may also grab orders from Samsung Electronics according to a recent report from the Chinese-language Apple Daily.
