Nintendo Trademarks DSi and DS… Well Everything
Right before the press conference where Nintendo announced the DSi, Nintendo of Japan trademarked a barrage of terms related to the DS.
The huge list was made publicly available on the Japanese trademark database earlier today. Many of these trademarks sound like new DS features or services. Some like DSArcade might even be tantalizing. But, before any rumors spread about a secret development of a DS time traveling device start circulating, please note that many of these are probably protective trademarks. Nintendo has not announced any plans for a DSiMovie service, but any forward thinking company would reserve the name just in case they want to pursue that path in the future. This list is more like a brainstorming session of what Nintendo could do with the Nintendo DS and the DSi.

Nintendo also filed a trademark application for “Friends Collection” which could be the English name for Tomodachi Connection (literally: Friend Connection). In this Nintendo DS game you interact with Nintendo head honchos like Shigeru Miyamoto, Satoru Iwata, and Reggie Fils-Aime represented by Miis. Nintendo of America and Europe have not announced this game, but it’s interesting to see the Friends Collection trademark pop up right underneath the one for Tomodachi Connection.
There is also a trademark for 3D Picross, which is probably related to Ritai Picross (literally: Solid Object Picross). Since 3D Picross feels more like a localized name maybe Nintendo is considering to release this title overseas too.
And then there is the mysterious Kuβoς spelled out in katakana as kyubosu. No word on what this is, but judging from the logo image we have it looks like a game about boxes or cubes. Perhaps, its another Nintendo developed WiiWare game.
