Nokia E63 based on S60 and Symbian OS
LONDON, United Kingdom, 13 November 2008 - Symbian Limited, the market leader in open operating systems for mobile phones, today welcomes the announcement of the Nokia E63 messaging device.
This latest mobile phone is based on Symbian OS™ v9.2, which is optimised for convergence with performance and feature enhancements, bringing a high level of power efficiency and platform security to mobile phones. Incorporating the S60 3rd Edition, Feature Pack 1 user interface, Nokia E63 users can choose from thousands of applications from the S60 applications library.
The Nokia E63 comes equipped with a range of multimedia features, WiFi connectivity, easy access to Mail for Exchange, and dedicated key access to contacts, calendar and email. It includes Files on Ovi, a service where users can get remote access to their PC files online and offline. The Nokia E63 also comes with 1GB of online file storage for free.
This new phone is expected to begin shipping soon for an estimated retail price of EUR 199, before taxes and subsidies.
