Taiwan market: Vibo Telecom may offer mobile VoIP service
Vibo Telecom, one of the five operators of 3G mobile communication services in Taiwan, is considering the launch of a handset-based international VoIP (voice over Internet Protocol) service for users to make mobile phone calls to overseas locations, according to company president Feng-hsiung Chang at a press conference on November 4.
In addition, viewing that China is going to issue 3G licenses, Vibo is seeking opportunities of cooperation with mobile telecom carriers in China through providing its operational know-how and experience in 3G mobile communication service, Chang indicated.
Vibo has 750,000 3G subscribers at present, and the number may not reach the target of one million for the end of 2008 but will exceed 800,000 then, Chang indicated. Vibo expects revenue of NT$5.0 billion for this year, growing by 25% from 2007, Chang noted.
