Alcatel-Lucent will help China Telecom to upgrade CDMA-network
The company Alcatel-Lucent announced that China Telecom, China's largest carrier, agreed to buy its integrated communications solutions to increase capacity and coverage area of mobile network China Telecom, transmitting voice and data throughout the country. Under the contract amounting to 230 million dollars Alcatel Shanghai Bell will provide China Telecom company to a comprehensive solution for CDMA wireless communications, which will be deployed in 56 Chinese cities and 9 provinces.
It is reported that the deployment of these solutions has already begun. The upgraded network will provide commercial services in late 2008. In addition, Alcatel Shanghai Bell will provide the customer routers IP-services platform for supporting applications and services for the deployment of solutions.
For this project, Alcatel Shanghai Bell will provide a reliable infrastructure, which includes base stations, adapted to different scenarios of implementation of urban areas with dense buildings to sparsely populated rural areas. All base stations consist of a common hardware and software components that facilitates technical support and reduces operating costs. In future, all base stations can be upgraded to support third-generation mobile services (3G).
