Hitachi and Intel will together make SSD-drives
Intel Corporation and Hitachi Global Storage Technologies announced plans to jointly develop and supply solid enterprise-class drives with SAS and FC interfaces for servers, workstations and data storage systems. As a result of cooperation leading supplier of enterprise-class drives and a world leader in the development and production of NAND will be the creation of solutions that are the highest reliability, performance and compatibility. Company entered into an exclusive agreement on joint development and supply of solid state storage interfaces with enterprise-class SAS and FC. It is expected that the first products for sale in early 2010.
Solid State Drives the new generation will complement the existing line of hard disk drives (HDD) enterprise-class and will be used in applications data storage systems that require maximum performance input / output per second (IOPS) and energy efficiency.
Sales and support for new SSD drives will be exclusively under the brand Hitachi GST, using flash memory and SSD Intel NAND technology. Hitachi GST will continue to supply our OEM-customers a broad range of products for data storage systems enterprise-class, but it will include both traditional hard drives, and new solid state drives. Intel will continue to work on the design, concluded in the market and the sale of advanced high-performance SSD drives with an SATA.
