Nortel will help KDDI to develop a network

The second-largest Japanese cellular operator KDDI will deploy a wireless network a new generation of technology-based LTE (Long-Term Evolution) with a base of network solutions, jointly developed by Nortel and Hitachi. This decision will create a LTE-network on top of existing mobile network CDMA. This means that customers KDDI - which is more than 30 million subscribers and commercial users will have the opportunity to instant access to multimedia content and applications that require broadband network access.

The result of the deployment of the network will be a significant improvement in the quality of service: multiplication speed downloading music and video, as well as access (regardless of location) to broadband applications, such as videoresursy, interactive games for mobile devices and online services to work together. In addition, the use of the network will allow the company KDDI to reduce costs and provide an integrated compatibility with existing CDMA-network of third-generation.

Won the tender base LTE-network includes the deployment of Evolution Packet Core (EPC) - a new batch nucleus of Hitachi, in which the role of managing mobility (Mobility Management Entity, MME) plays based on technology ATSA gateway access (Access Gateway) from Nortel. It also assumes the gradual change in the existing system of ongoing operations, management and training that will allow KDDI painless to switch to new technological track.
