Taiwan market: CHT aims to sell 50,000 iPhone 3Gs by 1Q09

Chunghwa Telecom (CHT) will start marketing the iPhone 3G handsets in the Taiwan market on December 13, with an aim to sell up to 50,000 units by the end of the first quarter of 2009, according to CHT.

While the 8GB iPhones 3G with a prepaid SIM card will be available for NT$26,600 (US$799) and the similar 16GB iPhone 3G for NT$29,900, CHT will also offer the 8G iPhone free of charge under a two-year bundled rate of NT$2,549 per month, CHT said.

Under different two-year bundled rates, the 8GB iPhone 3Gs will also be available for NT$4,900-11,900, whereas the 16G iPhones will cost from NT$2,990 to NT$15,200, CHT detailed.

Pre-sale orders for the iPhone 3Gs began on November 29 and will continue until December 10, said CHT, which estimated the number of pre-sale orders to top over 10,000 units.
