Taiwan market: Handset sales reach 560,000 units in November with Nokia top vendor
Sales of handsets in the Taiwan market totaled 560,000 units in November, with Nokia topping among all vendors with a 29.4% share, compared to 29.3% in October, according to the latest data provided by retail channels in Taiwan.
Channel operators also expect unit sales to remain flat in December, bringing handset sales for all of 2008 to about 7.2 million units.
Sony Ericsson and Samsung Electronics remained as the second and third ranked vendors in November. However, Samsung managed to narrow its gap against Sony Ericsson to only 0.3 of a percentage point, down from 0.8 of a percentage point in October.
Unit sales of Alcatel handsets improved substantially in November, taking, for the first time, a 1.5% share of Taiwan's handset market, the data indicated.
