Toshiba announces 512 GB SSD
The company Toshiba announced the world's first 2.5-inch SSD-drive level of 512 GB, as well as a line of high-speed SSD lesser capacity. SSD is based on multi-chip NAND flash memory using 43-nanometer manufacturing technology. They are designed for laptops, gaming and home entertainment systems. The company plans to demonstrate new SSD in January at CES 2009.
Apart from the 2.5-inch SSD for 512 GB in a series of 43-nm NAND SSD is also included Storage capacity 64, 128 and 256 GB in small form factors of 1.8 and 2.5 inches, or SSD flash modules. The new SSD can reach a maximum speed serial readout 240 Mb / s and a maximum speed of a consistent record up to 200 Mb / c.
Shipments of engineering samples of the new drives will begin in the first quarter of 2009 and mass production is scheduled for the second quarter.
