The first mobile WiMAX-network launched in commercial operation in Russia
In Russia already operates several networks WiMAX, covering most of the major cities of our neobyatnoy homeland. There is also a network of mobile WiMAX - in both capitals is a test operation of networks «Comstar» and «Skartela». Meanwhile, the «Sinterra» announced the introduction of commercial exploitation of the first mobile WiMAX-networks in Russia.
The network started in the development of «The regional mini-network WiMAX» in Moscow Aprelevke together with «telecommunications system», which will operate the network and provide services to its base of broadband Internet access and data transmission under its own brand.
The network operates in the frequency band 2,5-2,7 GHz equipment to Alcatel-Lucent C-WBS (Compact Wireless Base Station), certified WiMAX Forum in the standard IEEE 802.16e-2005 (Rev-e). The base station works with the user's devices production Zyxel and Sagem. According to the results of the test operation in view of the terrain and the existing building equipment operates stably at a distance of 5-7 km in direct view and 2,5-3 km in the absence of direct line of sight.
As the press-service operator, service «telecommunications system» WiMAX-based network in the initial phase will be made to corporate and private clients and will be applied in addition to other technologies of the Internet access. The proposal is aimed primarily at those customers, which requires the benefits of WiMAX: speed connectivity, mobility when moving from office to office, the lack of investment in the construction of land lines and independence from local landlords and major telecom operators. Also, network resources will be used as a shortcut «interim» solutions to connect customers with other technologies. In the future, it is providing mobile communications services to subscribers using portable devices (USB modem, PCMCIA and Express Card).
