Lenovo announced changes in the structure of the company
In the face of financial crisis, many companies carry out the optimization of the staff, reducing costs, including through layoffs. That's Lenovo announced its plans to reorganize the structure, to improve business efficiency and competitiveness in the global financial crisis.
During the first quarter of 2009, Lenovo plans to reduce the number of staff employed in the company for 2 500 people (including managers and senior management), which represents about 11% of the total. The company is also reducing the cost of the work units engaged in management, finance, personnel and marketing.
Lenovo also plans to reduce by 30-50% higher payments to the company. These actions are expected to help an international company Lenovo better use of existing capacity to meet the changing needs of today's market.
As part of the restructuring of Lenovo also announced the creation of a new geographical unit APR (Asia, Pacific, Russia), which would include Russia, Ukraine and other former CIS countries, China and all countries in the Asia-Pacific (excluding Japan, Australia and New Zealand). Previously, they were divided into two separate areas of responsibility: the Asia-Pacific (AP) combined with Russia and China (GCR). The new structure will allow the company Lenovo to avoid duplication of administrative functions and reduce operating costs.
As a result of restructuring the company expects to save approximately $ 300 million during the 2009/2010 fiscal year which ended March 31, 2010.
